Meghalaya government has decided to further supplement financial assistance by another Rs 5,000 to each of the active community quarantine centre in the state through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
The decision has been taken to financially assist the active community quarantine centres for helping the government fight against COVID19 as the state has witnessed surge in positive cases in the last 15 days.

Chief minister Conrad K Sangma while complimenting the efforts of the communities in the fight against Coronavirus in the state said, “Our communities are doing a commendable job across the state by supporting us in our fight against COVID-19.”
“To supplement their efforts, an additional amount of Rs. 5,000 will be given to community quarantine centres that are active through the CM’s Relief Fund,” chief minister Sangma tweeted.
Few months ago, the state government had extended one-time financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to each of the active quarantine centres managed by the communities.

These community quarantine centres had helped the government in containing the spread of COVID19 by providing accommodation in their respective localities or villages to those returnees who returned to Meghalaya from various parts of the country.
The returnees were asked to stay in the community quarantine centres prepared by the community instead of undergoing home quarantine.
Now, there are localities and villages that have come forward to assist health workers who work in hospitals by offering them to stay in community quarantine centre after they returned from duty, instead of going straight to their home, in order to prevent the spread of COVID19.
Meghalaya continues to witness a surge in COVID19 positive cases.
