The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam’s Lakhimpur district has risen to 144 following the detection of one more case in North Lakhimpur on Sunday.
A worker engaged in the construction in North Lakhimpur Medical College in Sabat-Chowkham was found COVID-19 positive, said health officials.
In the last 24 hours, four persons—all returning from their workplaces outside Assam was tested positive for the disease in Lakhimpur district, said a health official.
Two youths from Bosapukhuri and Keseruguri villages of Simaluguri in Dhalpur, Lakhimpur returning from Hyderabad on July 1 were tested positive of COVID-19.
Another youth from No. 2 Rampur in Simaluguri in Dhalpur, who was tested positive in Guwahati was taken by Lakhimpur health department upon his arrival and sent to Narayanpur COVID hospital.
A COVID-19 positive case was also detected in Dhakuwakhona on Saturday.
A person from Gharmora village in the sub-division was tested positive following his return from Guwahati.
On Friday there was a single day spike of 11 persons in COVID-19 in Lakhimpur district.
Two youths of Christiangaon and No. 1 Khalihamari returning from Bangalore were tested positive while another one from Bodhakora near North Lakhimpur, returning from Chennai confirmed the disease following swab tests.
Two persons from Pathalipam under Kadam Revenue Cirlce, with no travel history, one each from Silikhaguri in Narayanpur and Khalihamari in Hawajan, coming from Bangalore were also tested COVID-19 positive on Friday.
Two more persons from the district with travel history of shorter distances were found infected with the disease.
In North Lakhimpur, an elderly couple were also tested COVID-19 positive on Friday.
So far 93 persons have been discharged after being cured of the disease in the district.
