Tripura has registered 55 more COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 750.
Confirming the detection of the new positive cases in the state, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet at 10.45 pm on Saturday said a total of 1,125 samples were tested on the day, out of which 55 were found positive for the virus.
The chief minister informed that most of the infected patients have travel history while the rest came into contact with COVID19 positive cases.
“Alert ~ 55 people found COVID-19 #POSITIVE cases in Tripura today out of 1125 samples tested. Majority of the POSITIVE patients have travel history and others were in contact of COVID-19 patient,” chief minister Deb said.
As the number of COVID19 positive cases is on the rise in the state, the chief minister urged the people to remain cautious.
“Stay Cautious & Safe!” the chief minister said.
The total number of COVID19 positive cases in India, according to data compiled by John Hopkins University, stands at 243,733 and became the fifth worst-hit nation surpassing Spain.
Earlier on the day, the country surpassed Italy after registering a record single-day spike of 9,887 cases which pushed the nationwide tally to 2,36,657.
The death toll in India has risen to 6,642 so far, according to the Union Health Ministry.
