Nagaland government has decided to set up a BSL-2 testing laboratory at Tuensang.

This was informed by Nagaland government spokesman and parliamentary affairs minister Neiba Kronu on Wednesday.

In his briefing on Nagaland’s Covid19 situation, Kronu said the state government, through the medical department, will undertake necessary procedures for technical clearance for establishment of the laboratory from the Centre and the Indian Council of Medical Research.

He said the state government also decided to set up TrueNat testing facility in all the districts of the state.

It decided that all the citizens stranded, who return to the state, will be tested for Covid19 and that they will be sent to their respective districts only after the results of the tests are made available.

Kronu added that even the positive patients will be sent to their respective districts, as each district now has Covid19 hospital.

The positive patients will be transported to the respective districts following all safety procedures and norms, he said.

Kronu said five more people, who have returned to the state, tested positive for Covid19 on Wednesday, taking the state’s tally to nine.

All the positive persons are undergoing treatment at the designated Covid19 hospitals and their condition is stable, he said.

Kronu added that active surveillance and contact tracing is being carried out to prevent further spread of the infection.

He added that altogether 1,506 samples have been tested till date and results of 1,187 samples have been received.

Out of this, nine samples tested positive. Results of 319 samples are awaited.

Altogether 48 samples have been tested through Truenat testing machine so far.

Out of this, 47 samples tested negative while the result of one sample is awaited.
