This was initiated as per the decision of the Assam government under ACSP (Assam Community Surveillance Plan).

As per the strategy, the ASHAs with the help of Aganwadi workers and gaon burhas will collect pre-hand information about the cases of ILI and SARI in the village level which will be next attended by the community surveillance team.

The community surveillance team will be headed by the medical officer to counsel the patients as well as their families and the community.

“The surveillance team will further advise home quarantine to the suspected person and his family members till the results of the samples are declared,” said a statement issued by the DIPRO, Haflong.

The objective of the ACSP has been defined as to identify any COVID19 transmission, find unreported cases of SARI and ILI from every village, look for any clustering of such cases in a specific locality, treat symptomatic minor flu cases at homes.

The other objective of the ACSP is to create a database of such persons including the migrant population coming into the state in the days to come.

This will ensure that all SARI or ILI cases are tested for other diseases associated with fever like Japanese encephalitis, malaria, dengue, measles and rubella.

This will also ensure that all SARI and ILI cases are tested for COVID19, followed by mapping and linking the places and accordingly plan for adequate beds and ICU facilities.

Community surveillance teams and five numbers of block level monitoring teams have been constituted which will be monitored by the district monitoring team within the district of Dima Hasao.
