Assam’s 21 doctors including 12 from Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) have volunteered their services to the online OPD service, eSanjeevaniOPD, launched the state on Thursday.

The Jorhat district administration said patients will need a laptop or computer, camera, microphoneeveryday, speakers, internet connection with 2 mbps speed, and will have to register at esanjeevaniopd.in  to have a free consultation from the confines of their homes.

Assam’s health department with National Health Mission (NHM) launched the online medical consultation service, eSanjeevaniOPD, for the people of the state from today as part of the Union health ministry’s National Tele Consultation Service.

The service will enable people to have a safe and structured video-based clinical consultation between a doctor, hospital and the patient.

The free consultation will be available from 10 am to 2 pm from Monday to Saturday.

The communication further said the doctors have been trained via video conferencing by C-DAC on how to deal with the patients through online consultancy.

Till date, 30 persons of Assam have availed this teleservice.

The 12 doctors of JMCH, who have volunteered for the service, are Dr Nilutpal Bhattacharjee (Surgery), Dr Krishna Talukdar (Dermatology), Dr Usha Rani Pegu (Medicine), Dr Pallab Bhattacharjee (Psychiatry), Dr Rupak Bhuyan (Radiology) Dr Giorgi Saikia (Medicine), Dr Pankaj Pradip Panyang (Paediatrics), Dr Pronamika Konyak (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), Dr Hiteswar Saikia (Pharmacology), Dr Sumon Kurmi (Eye), Dr Florence Ratna Borah (ENT) and Dr Ankita Bihani (Paediatrics).
