The Niti Aayog building in New Delhi has been sealed after an employee working there tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Officials of the central government organization stated that it got to know about the health state of its employee at 9 am on Tuesday.
They also stated that the contacts of the employee have been asked to go on self-quarantine.
Disinfection and sanitization of the building is being carried out, officials said.
Taking to Twiter, Niti Aayog also informed about the steps that it had taken after one of its employees was found to be infected with the novel coronavirus.
“An employee working at NITI Bhavan has been detected positive with COVID-19. It was informed to the authorities at 9 am this morning. NITI Aayog is following all the due protocols necessary as per the Ministry of Health guidelines. The building has been sealed.Disinfection and sanitisation of the building are underway. Contacts of the single covid-positive person have been asked to go on self-quarantine,” Niti Aayog said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 29435 on Tuesday.
The death toll due to coronavirus in the country is 934 so far and the number of active cases is 21632.
A total of 6868 people suffering from coronavirus have either been cured or discharged.
