The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is preparing for a massive operation to evacuate the residents of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong who are stranded in other districts in Assam due to the nationwide lockdown.

KAAC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang and executive members of the council were on-site at KAAC Transport workshop in Diphu till Friday evening arranging the logistics so that buses can depart to bring back the stranded people from various parts of the state.

“We are preparing to evacuate those from Karbi Anglong who are stranded in other districts of the state during the lockdown,” Ronghang said.

“There are 200 workers from Karbi Anglong stranded in Tinsukia and we have already talked to Tinsukia DC, SP and the local MLA and they are ready to help us in bringing the workers back,” Ronghang added.

“Seven buses will be sent to Guwahati and five will depart for Lido. All expenses including will be borne by KAAC,” he further said.

“After arriving here they will be dropped to their residences for which the transport department will provide conveyances,” he further said.

KAAC has been already provided relief in the form of direct cash transfer to those workers and students who are stranded in other states all over India.
