The Kamakhya Temple Management Committee has decided to temporarily suspend issuing special entry tickets as well as defence personnel’s special tickets to avoid spread of coronavirus.

The Temple Management Committee has also mulled to shut down the doors of the temple for visitors in the next couple of days.

The Committee, however, has not taken a final decision in this regard so far will observe the situation for a few more days.

There has been a sharp deep in numbers of visitors in the temple in the last few days and is likely to deflate further after restriction on special passes.

“As very few visitors are coming to the temple, we have not yet stopped the darshan completely. However, if the threat continues, we might decide to close the doors for visitors for some time. The daily rituals inside the temple will continue,” The Assam Tribune quoted Kabindra Sarma, soru doloi of the temple management committee, as saying.

As precautionary measures, the committee has made the use of sanitisers in the temple premises mandatory and restricted major gathering for puja.
