Seven Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by vigilant residents of Boldamgre village in South West Garo Hills.

Shillong: A joint operation involving the Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Police, and local residents led to the apprehension of 11 Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian nationals along Meghalaya’s international borders on Monday.

Seven Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by vigilant residents of Boldamgre village in South West Garo Hills.

The individuals, who had illegally entered Indian territory, were handed over to the Kalaichar Patrol Post police. Security forces recovered a Bangladeshi passport, Bangladeshi currency notes, mobile phones, and Bangladeshi SIM cards from their possession.

This successful operation was part of ongoing joint efforts between the South West Garo Hills District Police and the BSF to strengthen border security. Local villagers play a crucial role in these operations by reporting suspicious activities.

A case has been registered at Mahendraganj Police Station against the seven apprehended Bangladeshi nationals.

According to BSF, these individuals had taken shelter near Baldamgiri Tinali and were attempting to reach Assam in search of employment.

In a separate incident, alert troops of the 4th Battalion BSF Meghalaya apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian nationals in the Dawki area of East Khasi Hills district.
