In the wake of the massive outbreak of coronavirus, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to provide blankets to the passengers of its trains only on request.

Moreover, the NFR has also decided to take down the curtains of the AC coaches of its trains too in an attempt to control the spread of coronavirus.

The NFR on Sunday stated that the decision of taking these steps is to restrict the spread of coronavirus through contact.

In a tweet, the NFR stated,” To restrict the spread of Corona Virus by contact, the curtains in AC coaches will be removed & blankets will be provided only on demand as these are most likely source of infection. The bedsheets, pillow covers & hand towel will be provided as usual.”

Meanwhile, the trains are being disinfected on a regular basis by the railway staff.

To create awareness among the public, Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) posters and pamphlets regarding COVID 19 are being displayed in local languages at railway stations and in trains.

According to reports, railway officials continue to hold meetings to ensure that awareness is being spread about the disease across railway stations in the country.

Railway hospitals have been provided with 1100 isolation beds for fever-related cases and for treating suspected Coronavirus cases with the availability of necessary protective gears.

The Indian Railways has identified 12,483 beds for quarantine at different locations across the country.
