Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal will arrive at Majuli Friday on a two-day official visit.
After landing at Gormur by a helicopter, Sonowal will attend a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the deputy commissioner’s office scheduled for 10:30 am.
The committee formed under the chairmanship of Lakhimpur legislator Pradan Baruah, Sonowal will participate as the local MLA of Majuli.
While spending the night at the circuit house, Sonowal on Saturday will lay foundation of several schemes and projects.
He will also inaugurate a blood bank at the civil hospital.
He is expected to dedicate the blood bank to the people at a meeting scheduled to be held at the civil hospital at 10 am on Saturday.
Sonowal will later at 10:30 am address a rally at Jengraimukh.
There he will lay the foundation for a drinking water plant to be set up at a cosrt of Rs 104.11 crore.
He will also lay the foundation of a science and technology centre, planetarium, office of the Majuli district transport office among others.
The chief minister will be accompanied by public health engineering minister Rihon Daimary and Pradan Baruah.
Sonowal is scheduled to leave Majuli by Saturday afternoon.
