The preparedness of the East Kameng district official for preventing and managing the awareness on coronavirus was reviewed on Friday by deputy commissioner Gaurav Singh Rajawat.

District surveillance unit and other stakeholders were present in the review meeting.

Rajawat urged the health department to remain prepared and directed for the immediate opening of 24×7 control unit in the district hospital, especially to deal with the occurrence of any kind of untoward cases related to coronavirus.

He directed the health officials to closely monitor the situation and advised all stakeholders to remain vigilant.

Suggesting a travel advisory for the people, he also directed the health department to put in place a mechanism of surveillance and contact tracing through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).

In order to sensitize the masses about the disease, the DC asked the health department to circulate the dos and don’ts of the disease.

He further directed them to organize information education communication (IEC) activities to generate awareness amongst health staffs and the general public.

Among others, additional deputy commissioner Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla, district medical officer Dr Lal Chand Darung, district surveillance officer (IDSP) Dr Kopi Gyadi were also present and shared their views in the meeting.

Meanwhile, a similar meeting was also conducted by Papum Pare deputy commissioner Pige Ligu at his office in Yupia on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, Ligu called upon the health and administrative officers to spread more awareness among the masses on the virus.

He further directed the district medical to set up a designated control room which would respond to the queries of the people on coronavirus.

DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu and IDSP epidemiologist Ili Angu also spoke during the meeting.
