Students of Delhi Public School Indirapuram at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday exhibited a unique example of national integration as they celebrated the “Meghalaya Day”.
It may surprise everyone as to why students of a far-off school in Uttar Pradesh celebrated the “Meghalaya Statehood Day”.
As Meghalaya is partner state of Uttar Pradesh as per the CBSE directives, the students of DPS Indirapuram made the best use of it with a gala celebration.
The students showcased a glimpse of the “Abode of Clouds” through a unique informative presentation on the land and people of Meghalaya.
The unique endeavour of DPS Indirapuram to celebrate the 48th Meghalaya Statehood Day is sure to win every heart of the tribal people of Meghalaya.
And, people attending the “Meghalaya Day” celebration at DPS Indirapuram, were mesmerized to know about the living root-bridges, crystal clear lakes, limestone caves, cascading waterfalls and quaint villages of the beautiful state from northeast.
The matrilineal society of the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo tribal groups, indigenous tribal cuisines, traditional musical instruments and the dance forms motivated the audience to add Meghalaya to their bucket lists.
The “Meghalaya Day” celebration was part of the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote the spirit of national integration.
The programme helps the students to get familiarised with the rich culture, traditions and customs of different states of India.
Sangeeta Hajela, principal of DPS Indirapuram also spoke about Meghalaya’s beauty and urged the students to find out more about the state from northeast India.
She also encouraged the students and teachers to find time to visit Meghalaya and know more about the state.
The dance troupe of DPS Indirapuram added to the magical ambience by presenting a mesmerizing dance sequence from Meghalaya.
