On the eve of the 48th Statehood Day, Meghalaya crushed Manipur by an innings and 116 runs in a Ranji Trophy match.

The Plate group match between the two teams from the Northeast had almost scripted a history of lowest score in a Ranji Trophy match.

Meghalaya bowlers bowled Manipur out for just 27, the score which narrowly missed Hyderabad’s lowest score of 21.

The match was played at Mangaldai Sports Association ground in Assam’s Darrang district.

On Monday, the match was resumed when Manipur was 18 for seven.

The tail-enders of Manipur were quick to handover the match to Meghalaya.

Meghalaya’s left-arm spinner Sanjay Yadav bagged five wickets for 35 runs in Manipur’s second innings.

Yadav bagged the Man of the Match award for his magic figure of 11 wickets for just 47 runs.

And because of the superlative performance, Meghalaya earned a bonus point, and with the victory, the state is at 20 points from six matches.
