To mark the 73rd Independence Day on August 15 next a route march was conducted in Kokrajhar town on Tuesday.

To also instill patriotism among the citizens the route march with band display by the personnel of seventh APBN, Choraikhola was held.

The route march started from near Sumon Petrol Pump Traffic Point and passed through Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road upto BTC secretariat and back.

Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Partha Pratim Mazumdar inaugurated the route march.

Commanding officer of seventh APBN M M Boro said the route march with band display was organised to install patriotism among the people and to mark the Independence Day celebration.

Kokrajhar superintendent of police Rajen Singh, additional SP Rozy Rani Sarmah were among those present on the occasion.

I-Day celebrations kick off in Chirang: Earlier, in the day, the three-day programme for celebration of district level Independence Day in Chirang district kicked off on Tuesday.

Early in the morning cleanliness drive was carried out at Milan Udhyan and its surroundings followed by tree plantation in the premises of District Parade Ground.

Chirang deputy commissioner Gautam Talukdar, superintendent of police Sudhakar Singh, additional deputy commissioner Karmadev Brahma, assistant commissioners Ringkhang Mushahary and Parta Pratim Baruah were present.

The programme was also attended by district heads of the departments, other officials and SSB personnel took part in the programme.

As part of the day long programme, speech competition, art competition, dance competition and patriotic song singing competition were conducted.

These competitions were held among college and school students.
