A man declared dead came back to life in the ‘morgue’ of a hospital in Tinsukia district of Assam.
Identified as Mohammed Hussain, the man was suffering from some unknown disease and was admitted to Tinsukia Civil Hospital on Wednesday.
“The hospital authorities informed us that he had died. But when we went to collect the body today, we found him to alive,” said the man’s wife on Friday.
NC Mahanta, superintendent of the hospital, however, denied that there were any lapses on the part of the hospital.
Mahanta informed that the hospital did not have a morgue.
“We have an isolated ward where we keep patients brought by the police,” The Hindu reported quoting Mahanta.
He further informed that the staff might have got confused as one of the three patients who died on Friday was also named Md. Hussain.
The incident has been severely condemned by the locals and they have demanded an inquiry into it.
“The authorities are to be blamed. They can’t just be casual and say that the staff got confused,” the locals said.
