Dibrugarh: Two youths were killed in a road accident in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Thursday when their car (AS-06-AK-0199) crashed into a roadside tree on NH-37 near Dibrugarh University.

The deceased have been identified as Rishiraj Maut (20), a native of Chabua who resided in Tinsukia, and Lakshyajyoti Phukan (21) from Tingkhong.

According to reports, the accident took place at around 3 am when the vehicle was heading towards Borbaruah from Dibrugarh city.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a tree.

“We have sent both bodies for post-mortem. The accident happened due to the high speed of the vehicle. We have also seized their vehicle,” said a police officer.

He said, “Most of the accidents are happening due to high speed. People should understand the value of life.”
