Dibrugarh: The four-laning project connecting Assam’s Numaligarh and Dibrugarh has progressed, with three of its five major road sections now 100 per cent complete, according to the latest status update from the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
The approximately 167.5-km Numaligarh–Dibrugarh corridor is divided into five major sections. As per the status as of September 25, the 39.7-km Numaligarh–Jorhat section has achieved 100 per cent completion, while the 37.8-km Jorhat–Jhanji section is at 97 per cent.
The 44-km Jhanji–Demow section, the longest individual package, has reached 81.3 per cent completion. The section includes two bridges, where construction progress is currently 36 per cent.
Further east, the 26.9-km Demow–Moran Bypass section and the 19.1-km Moran Bypass–Dibrugarh/Bogibeel Junction section have both achieved 100 per cent completion.
With the majority of the corridor already completed or nearing completion, the remaining construction is primarily concentrated in the Jhanji–Demow section, particularly its bridge works.
Once the remaining works are completed, the four-laning project is expected to provide a continuous upgraded highway connection between Numaligarh and Dibrugarh, strengthening connectivity and facilitating smoother movement across Upper Assam.
