Imphal: A team of the Indian Army and Manipur Police seized a hidden cache of arms and ammunition along with other military supplies in Churachandpur district bordering Myanmar.

The recovered weapons were found in an abandoned camp previously used by insurgents, according to a press release from the army.

Acting on specific intelligence suggesting the presence of weapons in the general area of Mongjang village, Churachandpur district, security forces launched a coordinated operation on May 21st, 2024.

The raid resulted in the capture of an assortment of weaponry, including a 12.5 mm assault rifle, one single-shot bolt action rifle, two 9mm pistols, and one mortar as well as ammunition and other military supplies.

The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
