Manipur police arrested two insurgents belonging to different militant groups in Imphal East and Imphal West districts in the last 24 hours.

Imphal: Manipur police arrested two insurgents belonging to different militant groups in Imphal East and Imphal West districts in the last 24 hours. The police recovered a hand grenade, a two-wheeler, cash, and mobile phones from their possession.

In the first instance, police apprehended Laishram Milan Singh, an active member of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), from Thangal Bazaar in Imphal West district.

A mobile phone, a wallet containing an Aadhaar card and Rs 310, and a two-wheeler vehicle were seized from him.

In another operation, Nongmeikapam Romi Singh (49), a member of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), was arrested in Imphal West district. The police recovered a hand grenade along with two detonators and a mobile phone with two SIM cards from him.

The arrested individuals along with the seized items have been taken into custody for further investigation.
