Guwahati: Assam batting sensation Riyan Parag is expected to earn his maiden call to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series to be played in Zimbabwe from July 6, 2024.
According to reports, Assam’s Riyan Parag, Punjab’s opener Abhishek Sharma and Uttar Pradesh’s pace sensation Mayak Yadav will be part of the 15-men squad to be announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Subhman Gill is expected to lead the team in the absence of most of the regular playing members who have opted to rest from that series.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested.
Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav have reportedly declined the offer to travel with the team to Zimbabwe.

Riyan is an all-rounder who can bat at any position in the middle order and deliver some important overs of spin.
Riyan has been with the Rajasthan Royals team in the Indian Premier League and after years of underperformance, Riyan was promoted to number four in 2024.
This resulted in an amazing performance from Royan and he scored 573 runs in 16 matches at an average of 52.09, a strike rate of over 149 and four half-centuries.
His best score was 84 not out.
Riyan’s consistent batting was one of the key reasons behind RR’s qualification to the playoffs.
