She claimed that that they had gone to August Kranti Maidan to enquire about friends who had been detained, alleging that the situation escalated when Imran began speaking to the media.

“Before he could even finish his sentence, with the weight of the media on one side, loud and incessant whistle-blowing disrupted everything, A stream of uniformed persons grabbed both Zayn and me, bruising us. They forced us all into the vehicle and then drove us around for a couple of hours. After that, they did not allow us to take public transport,” Lekha wrote in a post on Instagram

She did her schooling in Good Shepherd Convent, Chennai and later pursued a degree in Fine Arts at Stella Maris College, Chennai

She also attended the National Institute of Designtaking courses, first in Lifestyle Product Design, and then re-applying to enrol in the Film and Video Communication course

She did a few Tamil, Telegu and Kannada films

As a designer, she has earned accolades for her sculptural and art installation works
