As a measure of improving urban infrastructure, Sarma inaugurated a 17.5-meter footbridge at Paltan Bazar which has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 17 crore

Besides ensuring safer pedestrian access and smooth traffic flow in the busy area of Janata Point in Paltanbazar, the footbridge comes equipped with lift for divyangjans and escalator for women and senior citizens

It also comes with an advanced drainage system and a safety room

The chief minister also inaugurated the the renovated Shantisthal of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi in Shilpukhuri on January 1, 2025

The renovation which was carried out at a cost of Rs.1.26 crore has added a host of new facilities

To ensure a sustainable future for Assam, Sarma also flagged off 56 new AC electric buses for Guwahati

The new addition of electric buses in the capital city of Assam has now taken the total number of these eco-friendly vehicles to 256

He also inaugurated the newly constructed Inter-State Bus Terminal at Khanapara built at a cost of Rs. 12 crore to enhance regional connectivity.

The chief minister had announced a phased replacement of diesel buses in Guwahati’s public transport system with electric alternatives.

He also announced that the name of the upcoming Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge would be named as Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu
