Bollywood films have widely been the subject of trolling this year with many netizens supporting the boycott trends that have taken social media by storm

While people have been widely calling for boycotting many films by citing some bizarre reasons, the newest trend of spreading hate for movies now has now been switched to the word ‘ban’

Netizens are now calling for the ban of Adipurush, a mythological film that is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana

The film starring actors Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, looks to be a potential blockbuster from the stunning teaser after the high success of the movie Brahmastra

Directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles, Adipurush is one of the most expensive films of India estimated to be made on a budget of Rs. 500 crore

The film is scheduled to be theatrically released on 12 January 2023 in standard formats, 3D, and IMAX 3D

After the teaser of the film has been released, #BanAdipurush has been trending on Twitter and the reasons behind it are mostly ‘wrong looks’ and ‘poor VFX’

Netizens have claimed Ravana’s and Hanuman’s look in the film has similarities with Islamic attires

Meanwhile, some of them are not even pleased with the settings of the movie and have claimed the Vanavas scene in the teaser looking ‘like a fancy picnic in the forest ‘

While some compared the looks of the film with Ramanand Sagar's serial Ramayan, others alleged that the film is ‘misrepresenting’ the tale of Ramayana and is an ‘insult’ to their culture

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Malavika Avinash also accused the makers of Adipurush of ‘misrepresenting’ Ramayana

Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra also criticized the movie and warned the makers of legal action if ‘objectionable scenes’ are not taken down
