Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a project with a cost of Rs 24 crore for preserving the heritage places of Charaideo.
The chief minister urged the people to extend all possible cooperation in implementing the projects successfully foundation stone of which was laid today.
Attending at the inaugural function of Charaideo Mahotsav at Charaideo Maidam Kshetra, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Chaolung Sukapha preached about harmony and peace and if we cannot follow the ideals of Swargadeo Sukapha to strengthen the Assamese society we would not be able to show true respect to the founder of greater Assamese identity.”
Saying that Sukhapha was not only a respected figure of Assam but whole of South East Asia who gave Assam its identity, Sonowal stated that there is a need to make concerted effort to study great traits of his personality like humanity, ability to work hard, sincerity and strong moral values etc.
He also urged the people to strive to make Assam one of the top states in the country following Sukapha’s ideals and said that if the state’s resources and potentials can be utilised properly, its progress can be ensured.
Changing the environment of lethargy and corruption the present government has brought about an atmosphere of progress and development in the state and through only an efficient work culture societal change can be achieved, Sonowal claimed.
Sonowal said that Assam Government has also taken steps for making the state a top tourist destination taking advantage of this scheme.
Saying that the matter of constructing a permanent “rangamancha” at Charaideo Mahotsav venue would be actively considered by the government, Sonowal announced that financial grants would be provided every year for organising Charaideo Mahotsav.
