Gear Up, a premium cycle store in Guwahati, is all set to organise the 1st Northeast MTB (Mountain Terrain Bike) Championship.
The event will be held on December 22, 2020 at Basistha in Guwahati from 7 am to 2 pm.

This was announced on Saturday by the organizers during a press conference at the Gauhati Press Club on Saturday.
The objective of the championship is to provide an opportunity for the young talents of Northeast India to get a platform to showcase their potential.
The organisers hope that the championship will put the Northeast on the global map as a natural trail for national and international levels.

Assessing the outgrowing need for health awareness, Gear Up has decided to start cycling to promote and prepare athletes for national and various events.
It is a known fact that cycling culture has been growing in the Northeastern region with a positive
vibe.
Keeping this culture with a vision of expanding the ways to reach each and every corner of the region, the organizers have decided to hold the championship.
The motto of the championship is to give a better platform to the budding cyclists of the region.
In this connection, a Photography and Videography competition will also be organised in the same venue on the same day.
A team of jury will select the best photographer and videographer from the participants and results will be announced after a week’s time and prizes will be distributed among the winners accordingly.
In this regard, the organizer has been working at the venue for a couple of weeks to make the championship grand and successful.
The guest of honour for the championship will be retired IAS officer Sanjib Kumar Gohain Baruah, former director of Sports & Youth Welfare Department of Assam.
There will be lucrative prize money for the winners.
The organizers expect participants from all over Northeast.
The press conference was attended by senior journalist Pranay Bordoloi, cyclist and sports organizer Dhiraj Dutta, co-founder of Nat venture Jitu Pegu, comptroller to Assam Governor, Prabjot Singh Arora.
