In a reminder of Delhi’s Nirbhaya gang-rape that shook the nation in 2012, another woman passenger was allegedly gang-raped inside a running bus on Friday and was thrown out of the bus.

According to media reports, the victim was found lying unconscious on Delhi Road in Meerut on Saturday and was taken to the hospital.

Uttar Pradesh has registered the third such incident in the last one month.

The woman reportedly told the police that she had boarded a bus from Bhaisali bus stand on Friday night.

She was offered cold drink during the journey.

After consuming the drink, which was allegedly spiked, she lost consciousness and was gang-raped by the driver and the conductor in the entire night.

The victim is a resident of Sardhana town of Meerut district.

The victim’s statement has been recorded by the police and she has been sent for medical examination.

Ajay Sahni, the SSP of Meerut, has confirmed the incident and said efforts are on to nab the rapists.

The police are taking the help of the CCTV footage to gather evidence and identify the culprits involved in the incident, the police officer said.
