UP government takes over four five star hotels to lodge medical staff fighting COVID-19

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken over four five star hotels in Lucknow to lodge the medical staff who are working day and night to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

As per reports, the five hotels which have been selected to house the medical staff include the Hyatt Regency, Lemon Tree, The Piccadily and Fairfield by Marriott.

These four hotels will be converted into quarantine zones for the medical staff who are in constant contact with the coronavirus patients.

The medical staff will stay at these five-star hotels after finishing their shifts in the coronavirus wards.

In his address to the nation on his monthly radio programme Mann ki Baat, Modi saluted the doctors, nurses and paramedics who are working day and night outside their homes to fight against COVID-19.

“There are many soldiers who are fighting Coronavirus, not from their homes but from outside their homes,” the PM said.

“These are our front line soldiers-especially our brothers and sisters on duty as nurses, doctors & paramedical staff,” he added.

The central government has recently announced to provide an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh to each healthcare worker of government hospitals and health care centres who are working to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

“Any health professional, who while treating COVID-19 patients, meet with some accident, then he/she would be compensated with an amount of Rs 50 lakh under the scheme,” stated a notification issued by the Ministry of Health on Thursday.

“ All government health centres, wellness centres and hospitals of Centre, as well as States, would be covered under this scheme approximately 22 lakh health workers would be provided insurance cover to fight this pandemic,” it added.
