Union textiles minister Smriti Irani has tested positive for Covid19 on Wednesday.
The news has been confirmed by Union minister Irani on her Twitter handle on Wednesday evening.
Irani has requested those who came in contact with her in the last few days to get themselves tested for Covid19 at the earliest.
“It is rare for me to search for words while making an announcement; hence here’s me keeping it simple — I’ve tested positive for #COVID and would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest,” Irani tweeted.
According to reports, the 44-year-old actor-turned-politician had been actively campaigning for the Bihar elections.
The well-wishers of the Union ministers including Union minister Nitin Gadkari and Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh have wished her speedy recovery.

On Wednesday, India’s Covid19 tally neared the 80-lakh mark, registering 43,893 new positive cases and 508 deaths in the last 24 hours.
