Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Monday said he tested Covid19 positive.

The deputy CM of Maharashtra, which is India’s worst-hit state with a total of 16,45,020 cases, including 43,264 deaths, said he is admitted to a hospital in Mumbai as a precautionary measure at the advice of doctors.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader in a message said his health condition is fine now.

Pawar, who is also the finance minister of Maharashtra in his message said: “I have tested positive for Covid-19. My health condition is fine. As a precautionary measure, I have got admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on the advice of doctors.”

A media report quoted Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope as saying that Pawar’s health is normal and he has been admitted to hospital only for the purpose of rest.

Pawar, according to the report, had tested negative for Covid19 on Thursday.

Despite negative results, he was in quarantine at his official residence in Mumbai as a precautionary measure.

More than 12 ministers of Maharashtra have tested Covid19 positive in the last few months.

The ministers who tested positive include PWD minister Ashok Chavan; social justice minister Dhananjay Munde; school education minister Varsha Gaikwad; MoS for school education Bacchu Kadu; urban development minister Eknath Shinde.
