India’s medal prospect Neeraj Chopra qualified for the men’s javelin throw final by registering a throw of 86.65m. He topped Group A.

Chopra qualified in his first attempt itself, as he went past the automatic qualification mark of 83.50m easily. 

On the other hand, wrestlers Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Punia won their respective quarter-final matches to enter the semi-finals.

Ravi Dahiya defeated Georgi Vangelov of Bulgaria by 14-4 in the men’s Freestyle 57kg wrestling quarter final match. 

Deepak Punia defeated China’s Zushen Lin by 6-3 in the Freestyle 86kg wrestling quarter final match to march ahead to the semi-finals.
