Renaming of the Motera stadium as Narendra Modi Stadium came as a big shock to the entire cricketing community on Wednesday.

The renaming of the Motera Stadium as Narendra Modi Stadium was confirmed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Amit Shah said, โ€œAs it was PM Narendra Modiโ€™s vision to build the worldโ€™s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad since from the days as Gujarat Chief Minister, the stadium has been renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium.

โ€œAs CM, he used to say Gujaratis must also progress in 2 fields โ€“ sports and armed forces. He took charge of GCA on my request and promoted sports here. His vision was that worldโ€™s largest cricket stadium be built here. This 1,32,000-seater stadium will be known as Narendra Modi Stadium,โ€ Shah added.
