The refurbished Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world’s largest cricket stadium, has been renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium.

President Ram Rath Kovind officially inaugurated the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, which was earlier known as Motera stadium, ahead of the 3rd Test match between India and England.

Renaming of the Motera stadium as Narendra Modi Stadium came as a big shock to the entire cricketing community on Wednesday.

The renaming of the Motera Stadium as Narendra Modi Stadium was confirmed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Amit Shah said, “As it was PM Narendra Modi’s vision to build the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad since from the days as Gujarat Chief Minister, the stadium has been renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium.

“As CM, he used to say Gujaratis must also progress in 2 fields – sports and armed forces. He took charge of GCA on my request and promoted sports here. His vision was that world’s largest cricket stadium be built here. This 1,32,000-seater stadium will be known as Narendra Modi Stadium,” Shah added.
