Tamil Nadu government on Saturday allowed 100% occupancy in film theatres, opening of schools for Class 1-8 on a ‘rotational’ basis from November 1.

The Tamil Nadu government also allowed the operation of bars, lifting of time restrictions on the functioning of shops, among others, as part of the new set of relaxations announced by the government.

According to an official statement, the decision to ease curbs was taken at a review meeting presided over by Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin at the Secretariat on Saturday.

The shops, restaurants and bakeries have been allowed to function till 11 pm.

The restriction has been eased in view of the coming festive season.

Further, indoor and outdoor sports, sports training, and use of swimming pools for ‘therapeutic purposes’ are also allowed with immediate effect, according to the official statement.

The schools are allowed to hold classes for Class 1-8 on a rotational basis and film theatres are permitted with 100% occupancy by adhering to the Covid19 standard operating procedures, the statement said.

Air-conditioned and non AC buses are allowed to operate at full capacity between districts and states except Kerala.

The bars and standalone bars are also allowed to function, the official statement said.

Film shootings with the required crew adhering to Covid19 protocol are allowed and all those taking part should have got both COVID19 vaccine doses.

However, the Tamil Nadu government has extended the ban on the conduct of political events and festivals.
