Schools in Sikkim will reopen for all classes from October 18. 

The announcement was made by the Sikkim education department on Tuesday.

““All state government, government-aided, and private educational institutions, will reopen from October 18, for students of lower kindergarten to Class eight,” the notification read. 

Earlier, on October 1, schools were opened for students above class 9. 

However, classes will resume on an alternate-day basis.

“Initially, only 50 per cent of students should be called on alternative days with parental consent, which shall be further increased based on the monitoring of the situations,” the notification added. 

Meanwhile, the Sikkim education department has asked all the schools to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols will resuming classes.
