Bulbul Can Sing– a Rima Das directorial has won the ‘Best Assamese Film’ award at the 66th National Film Awards.

The list of winners, which was declared on Friday, was delayed this year due to the Lok Sabha polls.

Apart from Rima Das, the other winners from the region are ‘Best Garo Film’ Ma.Ama by Dominic Sangma,’Best Sherdukpen Film’ Mishing by Bobby Sarma Baruah, and ‘Best Pangsenpa Film’ In The Land Of Poisonous Women by Manju Borah.

Pangsenpa language is spoken by only 5,000 people who live near India-China border, around 100 kilometres from Tawang, in Arunachal Pradesh.

Rima Das’ Bulbul Can Sing bagged a special award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on Thursday.

Gujarati movie Hellaro was adjudged as the ‘Best Feature Film’ at the 66th National Film Awards.

Ayushman Khurana for Andhadhun and Vicky Kaushal for Uri were declared as ‘Best Actors’ and Tabu for Andhadhun as Best Actress.
