Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took the first dose of COVID19 vaccine at AIIMS New Delhi.
Modi was seen wearing a traditional Assamese gamosa as he was taking the vaccine.
This was confirmed by Prime Minister Modi in a tweet on Monday morning.
“Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS,” PM Modi tweeted.
While lauding the efforts of the doctors and scientists to fight the COVID19 pandemic globally, Modi said: “Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19.”
He appealed to the people, who are eligible, to take the COVID19 vaccine.
“I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!” the Prime Minister said.

Meanwhile, the registration for the vaccination drive for the age-appropriate population groups opened at 9 am on Monday (March 1, 2021) at www.cowin.gov.in).
The citizens can register and book an appointment for vaccination, anytime and anywhere, using the COWIN 2.0 portal or through other IT applications such as Arogya Setu, etc.
