Former world number 1 and winner of five Grand Slam titles Maria Sharapova is retiring from professional tennis at the age of 32.

The decision to retire comes after a shoulder injury has been troubling her for years.

The former number 1 player played just two matches this season and she lost both the matches.

Last season she played 15 matches, out of which she won 8 and lost 7 matches.

She burst into the tennis scene when she was just 17-year-old and won Wimbledon in 2004.

She also won two French Open titles and one US Open and one Australian Open.
