Along with Devegowda, his wife has also tested positive for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, HD Devegowda and his wife have opted for home isolation along with other family members.
87-year-old HD Devegowda has further urged all those who came in contact with him in the past few day to undergo COVID-19 testing.

“My wife Chennamma and I have tested positive for COVID-19. We are self-isolating along with other family members. I request all those who came in contact with us over the last few days to get themselves tested. I request party workers and well-wishers not to panic,” Devegowda tweeted.

Meanwhile, prayers and wishes started to pour in as soon as the news of HD Devegowda having tested COVID-19 positive broke out.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to HD Devegowda and wished him and his wife a speedy recovery.

HD Devegowda also thanked PM Modi for calling him and enquiring him on his health condition.
“I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for calling and enquiring after my health. I am also deeply moved by his offer to get me treated in any hospital of my choice in any city. I assured him that I am being looked after well in Bangalore, but will keep him informed,” HD Devegowda tweeted.

Meanwhile, the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic in India is going “from bad to worse,” a senior government official has said.
“We are facing an increasingly severe and intense situation, more so surely in some districts. But the whole country is potentially at risk,” Vinod K Paul, chairman of the government’s expert panel on vaccine administration said at the weekly health ministry briefing on Tuesday.
