The registration on CoWIN 2.0 portal for the second phase of the world’s largest Covid19 vaccination drive for the age-appropriate population groups began on Monday (March 1, 2021).

Registration opened at 9:00 am and citizens can register and book an appointment for vaccination, anytime and anywhere, using the CoWIN 2.0 portal or through other IT applications such as Arogya Setu, etc.

Prime minister Narendra Modi took the first dose of COVID19 vaccine at AIIMS New Delhi on Monday morning.

How to register?

The registrations, which opened at 9 am on March 1, will be open till 3 pm every day.

The availability of slots nearby to get vaccinated is subject to availability. Follow these processes:

  •  Open Aarogya Setu or Cowin.gov.in website.
  • Enter your mobile number and click on the OTP (One Time Password). Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and click on the verify button.
  • In Aarogya Setu app, go to the CoWin tab, and tap on the Vaccination tab. Tap on Proceed.
  • Now, a registration page will appear where you will need to enter the photo ID type, number and your full name on it. You also need to enter the gender and age of the person. For example, you can use a Driving License, Aadhaar Card as photo ID proof.
  • If the person you are registering for is a senior citizen, click on the register button. If you are registering a person with comorbidities, you have to click on yes when it asks “Do you have any comorbidities (pre-existing medical conditions)”.
  • People age between 45 years to 60 years will need to carry a medical certificate when they go for the appointment. Once registered, a confirmation message will be sent to the registered mobile number.

Meanwhile, India’s count of active cases has jumped to 170,293.

On Sunday, India registered 15,616 fresh Covid19 cases, taking its caseload tally to 11,112,056.

India continues to be second-most affected country globally and ranks 13th among worst-hit nations in active cases.

The five most affected states in India by total cases are Maharashtra (2,155,070), Kerala (1,059,403), Karnataka (951,251), Andhra Pradesh (889,916) and Tamil Nadu (851,542).

The deadly virus has so far infected a total of 114,673,519 people globally.

A total of 2,542,556 people have died so far in the world while 90,228,716 have recovered.

The US remains the worst-hit country with 29,254,561 cases, followed by India, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom.
