Twelve Indian nationals on Wednesday tested positive for COVID-19 in Nepal.

These 12 Indians participated in the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi last month and they were found taking shelter in a mosque in eastern Nepal’s Udaipur district.

The Nepal government, as per lockdown rules, has made it mandatory for all foreign nationals to self-quarantine and they are not allowed to visit public places.

The 12 Indian men were initially taken in police custody after news about they taking shelter was reported.

Their swab samples were collected for COVID-19 tests and later they were quarantined, sources informed.

Sources further informed that the men took part in the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi before entering Nepal.

In Nepal, swab tests for coronavirus have been conducted on 6,871 individuals and 16 people have so far tested positive and one of them has recovered, while the other 15 are undergoing treatment.
