The Uttar Pradesh government strengthened the vigil along the Indo-Nepal border as a precautionary measure against Coronavirus after the first case about the virus was reported in the country.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at a review meeting with health department officials and instructed to make 10-bedded isolation ward in each district hospital and medical college.
He asked the officials to take necessary steps by coordinating with the union health ministry officials.
“In response to a confirmed case of #nCoV2019 in #Nepal, India has stepped up vigil in districts bordering Nepal. Health Teams deployed at BOP with Nepal at Jhulaghat and Jauljibi, Dist Pithoragarh, #Uttarakhand,” the union health ministry tweeted.
The Centre, meanwhile, has stepped up the vigil for the suspected cases of coronavirus which is increasing rapidly across the globe every day.
Healthcare professionals have been deployed in West Bengal and Uttarakhand districts bordering Nepal.
Districts, where healthcare officials have been deployed, are Panitanki of West Bengal and Jhulaghat and Jauljibi areas in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
Kerala is one of the most affected states in the country where 288 persons are under observation.
Sources informed that over 60 persons are under observation in Kozhikode district of Kerala.
So far 29,707 passengers arriving in India in 137 flights till Sunday have been screened for Coronovirus symptoms.
