Top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday morning, met the family of 9-year-old “rape and murder” victim in New Delhi. 

The 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered at the Cantonment area in Delhi on Sunday. 

“Tears of the unfortunate parents were pleading for just one thing – justice for their daughter, justice for India’s daughter. And, in this path for justice, I stand with them,” Rahul Gandhi said. 

On Sunday evening the minor girl went to the crematorium near her home to fetch drinking water. But she never returned back home.

Later, priest of the cremation – Radheshyam had claimed that the minor girl was electrocuted in an accident. 

There were burn marks on the wrist and elbow and the lips were blue, the girl’s mother had said. 

The priest and his companions had also allegedly threatened the parents of the girl not to inform the police. 

However, sensing foul play, the parents of the minor victim informed the police.

The police, meanwhile, have arrested four persons in connection with the crime. 

The Delhi Police, has stated that the “post-mortem was inconclusive”. 

The four arrested accused will now undergo polygraph and narcotics tests.
