Iconic television series of the late 1980s and the early 1990s, Mahabharat will return to DD Bharati and the show will start airing from Saturday.
The announcement was made by the information & broadcasting ministry and this follows the announcement of the return of Ramayan to DD National.
Twitting about it I&B minister Prakash Javadekar said, “Happy to announce that DD Bharati will relay from tomorrow Saturday 28th March, the popular serial ‘Mahabharat’ at 12 noon and 7 pm every day.”
Both the series- Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan and BR Chopra’s Mahabharat– were popular TV shows of the ’90s.

Sagar’s Ramayan will be telecast from Saturday in two-time slots – 9 am and 9 pm.
The series featured Arunl Govil as Ram, Deepika Chikhalia as Sita, Arvind Trivedi as Ravan and Dara Singh as Hanuman.
It first aired from January 1987 to July 1988.
The decision was taken by the I&B ministry to encourage people to stay indoors during the nationwide lockdown and relive their old memories.

Series like Shaktiman, Byomkesh Bakshi, Sea Hawks, Captain Vyom and Chandrakanta has topped the request charts.
