Bangladesh police have started rounding up Rohingyas who are not in designated camps and are sheltered elsewhere.
Recently, police arrested 15 Rohingyas — six children, five women and three men — from the apartment owned by a leader of the hard-line Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami Shahidul Alam Bahadur.
The apartment is located on the seventh floor in House no 121 City Complex on Tekpara Aziz Street in Cox’s Bazar town, said District executive magistrate Ehsan Murad, who made the arrests.
Bangladesh government has asked all district officials to spot those Rohingyas who are not staying in designated camps and have moved to other locations.
‘We want all of them to stay in camps so that they can be repatriated to Myanmar,” said one Bangladesh official in Chittagong.
