The beneficiaries of Singchung and Rupa in West Kameng district, finally received compensations after 56 years for their land acquired by the Indian Army way back in 1960s.
The lands were acquired by the Indian Army following the 1962 war with China.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday distributed cheuques of Rs 24.56 crore to the beneficiaries of Singchung in West Kameng district as compensation for land during a function at West Kameng in presence of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
Khandu also distributed cheques of Rs 13.17 crore to the beneficiaries of Tukpen village in Rupa under West Kameng district as land compensation acquired by Indian Army in 1960s.
Informing this on his Twitter handle on Thursday, Chief Minister Khandu stated: “Gave away cheques of Rs 24.56 crore to the local beneficiaries of Singchung in West Kameng dist as compensation for land acquired by the Indian Army way back in 1960s.”
Khandu also stated that the compensation has been possible only because of the “love” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Arunachal.
The Arunachal Chief Minister also inaugurated the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner at Singchung in West Kameng district.
Khandu tweeted: “I appreciate the PWD dept for quality work at the cost of Rs 1 crore.”
The Arunachal CM also laid foundation stones of the Govt High School of Rupa, 2 RCC bridges and SE office (PHE) of Shergaon.
Besides, Khandu also inaugurated the ADC Headquarters and EE (Electrical division) of Rupa.
