After 18-long months, 4G internet services restored in Jammu and Kashmir

In a major step towards normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, 4G internet services have been restored in the Union Territory.

This was informed by Jammu and Kashmir’s Principal Secretary of Power and Information – Rohit Kansal.

“4G mobile internet services being restored in entire J&K,” Kansal said.

High-speed mobile internet services have been restored in Jammu and Kashmir after 18-long months, after they were snapped to prevent a backlash against the Centre’s move to abrogate Article 370 on August 5, 2019.

The services are likely to resume from Friday midnight.

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah also expressed happiness over restoration of high-speed internet services in the UT.

Omar Abdullah said, “4G Mubarak! For the first time since Aug 2019 all of J&K will have 4G mobile data. Better late than never”.

The security apparatus has agreed in principle and given green signal to restoration of high-speed internet services in the UT.

High-speed internet connectivity has been restored in 18 districts of Jammu & Kashmir.

Over the last year, broadband internet and slow mobile data were restored in phases since the Supreme Court told off the government earlier while hearing cases that called the curbs an assault on free speech and democratic rights.
