The Sikkim State Body Building Association (SSBBA) has announced to organise the 18th Mr Sikkim Body Building Championship 2018 on April 29 at the Manan Kendra here. For the first time, the SSBBA is also organising the 1st Men’s Physique Competition & 1st Master’s Body Building Championship simultaneously with the Mr Sikkim contest.
This was announced by SSBBA General Secretary Arun Gurung in a press conference here on Tuesday.
Gurung mentioned that the Mr Sikkim contest was the annual event of the association among other activities. Mr Sikkim contest has four categories – 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg and above 70 kg. Binod Biswakarma is the current Mr Sikkim.
“This time, we are also organising Men’s Physique Competition and Master’s Body Building Championship for the first time in the State mainly to encourage the people to live a healthy and productive life and also further to promote body building in the State,” he said.
Men’s Physique Competition and Master’s Body Building Championship will be conducted in the open category and there will be participants from neighbouring hills and Siliguri apart from the participants from different parts of Sikkim.
“Men’s Physique Competition has been becoming popular among youngsters in the country. So, through this competition, we are not only providing another platform for young body builders but also encouraging other young people in fitness and to stay healthy,” Gurung said.
He further mentioned that Master’s BB Championship will be held for participants of above 45 years. “The main motive of this competition is to encourage people above 40 years to continue with their exercises to stay fit and healthy and when participants of above 45 years will perform in the stage it would motivate young generation to stay fit and healthy,” he added.
The press conference was also addressed by SSBBA Vice-Presidents, Rabin Pradhan and Bikash Khawas and Organising Secretary Suresh Chettri. They have appealed to the people to encourage the local body builders with their presence and cheer up in the contest.
The competitions will have cash prize and trophies. The championship will have experienced judges of the SSBBA. The registration to participate in the competition is open till 8 AM on April 29. Interested may contact the association for further details.
