Phase-I of the NIC e-Office suite has been successfully implemented by RailTel, which made 58 establishments of Indian Railways adopt paperless work culture.

The e-Office suite has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

This is a cloud-enabled software and is being hosted from RailTel Tier III certified data centres at Gurgaon and Secundrabad.

RailTel, as of October 30, created over 50,000 users in these 58 establishments.

Several executives have also been trained to handle the platform.

RailTel inked an MoU with the Indian Railways in March this year for the completion of Phase 1 by March 2020.

“Phase 1 has been completed before time,” Indian Railways official stated.

In Phase-1, 4 modules- File Management System, Collaboration and Messaging Services, Personnel Information Management System, Knowledge Management System are being implemented.

“Purpose behind e-Office implementation is to provide an efficient, effective and reliable way to handle office documents and files,” said RailTel.

“The system ensures complete transparency as anything written on the file once cannot be changed or undone,” it added.

“Other immediate advantages of NIC e-Office include quick disposal of files as well as systematic, timely monitoring of pending files,” RailTel added.
