Manipur’s Sangai Festival will have water parasailing this year at the Loktak Lake in Bishnupur district from Thursday.

The trial of water parasailing was held at Chingmei Keibul Ching under the initiative of Manipur Tourism Foundation and Loktak Development Authority on Sunday.

The nine-day water parasailing is one of the highlights of the festival and is expected to be a huge crowd puller.

Youth adventure and water sports like spider net crossing, motor boat rafting at rowing canal, water zorbing, rope bridge, artificial boulder-climbing, ATV biking, paragliding will be held as a part of the festival.

The Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA) have urged the state government for installation of more lights around the festival premises as there is more footfalls at night than daytime.

MMTA also have a line-up of packages like an expedition to Dzukou Valley, treks to Mt. Iso in Senapati district, visits to Zeliad Lake, Tharon Cave, Shirui peak and Kangkhui cave expeditions in Ukhrul district and adventure activities at the MMI Complex at Lamdan in Chruchandpur district.

Apart from youth adventure and water sports, traditional sports of Manipur will also be played during the festival.
